Burgos, Spain 1978

He discovers photography while studying Arts in high school, which drives him to
delve deeper into it in the degree of Higher Technician in Artistic Photography. During
this period, and already in Madrid, he begins his relationship with the cultural scene,
working as a photographer for numerous media outlets and record companies. The
development of this first professional stage is closely related to Rey's passion for
music, especially American bands from the 70s and 90s. This music passion will deeply
influence the aesthetic and artistic tastes of this author, which he will soon begin to
reflect in his creative facet.
Years later, within the RTVE Institute, he begins his journey as an audiovisual director.
"Desatados" is a series of programs for Radio 3 Extra, which Rey creates and directs
with the aim of disseminating the creative process of a new generation of
contemporary artists.
He was part of the Blank Paper collective from its inception, and he taught classes at
its school. Currently, he teaches editing and audiovisual narrative at various institutions
in Madrid.
He develops his personal work stimulated by the projection of his identity onto the
landscape in projects such as "American Insider," with which he is currently in the
process of editing a photobook. His work has been part of the programming of
festivals such as Les Rencontres d'Arles, PhotoEspaña, Sevilla Foto, or institutions such
as the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
